Celebs Who Have Checked Into Rehab in 2019

Here at Northeast Addictions Treatment Center, we know how hard it is to battle addiction, especially if you’re in the spotlight! In honor of National Recovery Month, we would like to take a moment to recognize 9 celebrities taking the initiative to get back on track and take steps towards a healthy sober lifestyle by checking into rehab.

1) James Hetfield

James Hetfield, the lead singer and guitarist for the famous rock band Metallica has entered into rehab. On September 27th 2019, the band announced on Metallica’s website that they will be cancelling their upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand.

As said in a statement by Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo, “As most of you probably know, our brother James has been struggling with addiction on and off for many years. He has now, unfortunately, had to re-enter a treatment program to work on his recovery again.”

2) Paris Jackson

In early 2019, multiple sources reported that Paris Jackson, Michael Jackson’s daughter admitted to rehab for alcohol and mental health issues. This is not her first stint in rehab, as she had checked into a facility back in 2013, after an attempted suicide.

3) Amanda Bynes

It’s been reported that Amanda Bynes checked into a rehab facility in January of 2019, following a “relapse”. Sources mention that Adderall, Cocaine, Molly and Ecstacy played a part in her addiction as well as mental health issues. Amanda has had issues with the law in the past, including two hit and run charges in 2012 and one DUI arrest.

4) Wendy Williams

In March of 2019, story broke through DailyMailTV that talk show host, Wendy Williams, has checked into Pure Recovery Network in Long Island City, New York for alcohol and prescription pill addiction. Wendy revealed on her show that she has been living in a sober living housing and has struggled with cocaine in the past.

5) Kit Harington

In May of 2019, Kit Harington, the beloved star of HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones, reportedly checked into a luxury rehab health retreat in Connecticut. According to Page Six, the British actor checked in for stress and alcohol related issues and has been undergoing psychological coaching along with other treatments that deal with negative emotions. The facility is said to cost over $120,000 a month.

6) Bam Margera

Bam Margera, best known for his role in MTV’s hit series Jackass, has reportedly checked himself into rehab 3 times in August of 2019 according to Page Six. He claims that he left rehab on one of the attempts due to the facility wanting him to surrender his cellphone, which he was not comfortable with. On top of this, he was arrested in LA’s Luxe Hotel right after getting out of treatment for refusing to leave the premises.

7) Jordan Peterson

Jordan Peterson, the Canadian psychologist, famous for his anti-political-correctness stance and advocate of personal performance improvement has checked into rehab in September of 2019. According to the NY Post, his daughter, Mikhaila Peterson broke the news in her YouTube account, stating that he is looking to get treatment from taking an anti-anxiety drug called Clonazepam. Peterson has been reportedly taking the drug to help deal with the stress from his wife’s battle with cancer.

8) Artie Lange

Famous New Jersey native actor/comedian, Artie Lange, best known for his role in the hit television series, Mad TV, had been court ordered to an intense six-month drug court program, according to Radar Online. Lange began the program in March of 2019, after checking in to a halfway house and released in September of 2019. Artie has long struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, but has stated after his release that he is ready to go on tour again.

9) Ronnie Ortiz-Magro

Reality TV star, Ronnie Magro, famous for his role in MTV’s series Jersey Shore, opened up to his cast mates in August of 2019 about entering an alcohol rehab program. According to Page Six, he spent 30 days in treatment with his motivation being his 1-year-old daughter and the decision to become a better father and person. He states that he is looking to repair his relationship with girlfriend, Jen Harley, which has been riddled with domestic dispute reports.
