Aftercare Addiction Services

Adjusting to everyday life after completing treatment can feel natural if the right program helps with the adjustment period from rehab to the real-world.

Addiction Aftercare

We connect patients who graduate from our program with housing, jobs and education opportunities as well as sponsors primary clinicians, and outside support groups, thus forming a network that engages sobriety long after our treatment program.

Generate Happiness Through Recovering

Northeast promises to stay in contact with our patients, pending their consent post-discharge, to ensure a seamless and safe transition into life after treatment. We only achieve this sustained success by first identifying the appropriate step-down approaches and exit strategies as part of the discharge plan. This is needed to establish recovery maintenance and aftercare support from clinicians, sober communities, and friends and family. Then we ensure the patient has adequate resources and case management support to continue recovery goals.

Successful recovery from drug addiction necessitates ongoing support.  Each step in the process is essential. Ignoring or giving less than full effort to one of the phases can undermine your entire recovery. Aftercare may not be a well-publicized step in the recovery process but it is important to keep receiving assistance in your recovery after completing outpatient or residential rehabilitation.

There are many potential reasons for an addict to relapse, including: cravings, lack of coping skills or motivation, negative occurrences in the addict’s life, etc. Emotional and environmental factors have been known to trigger relapses in addicts even after completing rehab programs. Three of the most common triggers for relapse include stress, re-exposure to the drug or its users and environmental cues. Relapse is much less likely when clients are taught how to recognize and avoid potential triggers in aftercare.

Goals in recovery:

  • Understand the disease of addiction
  • Increase sobriety time
  • Learn how to utilize community
  • Regain and maintain family and social suppor
  • Build a sober lifestyle
  • Recognize potential dangers to your recovery
  • Improve self-care
  • When well, help others achieve the same

Aftercare is designed to last if a person needs it, which for many is indefinitely. Some prominent examples of aftercare programs are Alcoholics Anonymous and other 12-step programs that center on teaching an individual how to recover from the disease of addiction and emphasize the importance of helping others once recovery has been achieved. These programs cultivate the coping skills needed to enable a long-term recovery.
